The overall results will take place over several months ensuring the results that you desire.
Description of Procedure
A month before the procedure, you will need to have a skin test in order to determine if you are allergic to the product, if it’s negative then your cosmetic surgeon will schedule your procedure. ArteFill contains lidocaine, which diminishes soreness following the procedure: ArteFill is injected in stages by your cosmetic surgeon over a period of several weeks to months. Your surgeon will inject the filler just beneath your skin, filling the gaps so that the skin is raised to its normal height. It takes about 3 months for you to experience the full effect of ArteFill.
Healing and Downtime
The treated areas usually look normal within a matter of hours after Hylaform injection. In some patients, particularly with lip augmentations, bruising and swelling may last 7-14 days.
Other Options
Additional procedures that could enhance the result of Hyaluronic Acid injections are other facial cosmetic procedures such as Nonsurgical Facelift, Refirme®, Skin Tightening,or Microneedle. Other Fillers are also available, like Radiesse, Restyle, Sculptra, or Fat transfer.
Insurance Coverage
This procedure is considered cosmetic and, therefore, is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment.

Filler: Radiesse
Radiesse®, formerly called Radiance, is a synthetic dermal filler made of calcium hydroxyapatite. It is used for soft tissue augmentation and to treat skin folds and wrinkles. Calcium hydroxyapatite is an inorganic substance similar to bone. No animals or animal products are used during its production, and no skin testing is needed.
When injected into the deep dermis and subcutis, Radiesse provides a matrix into which the body’s own tissue can grow and add volume. In this way, it is used for soft tissue augmentation (e.g. adds volume to lips and cheeks), and can help to fill in deep skin folds and wrinkles. A small needle is used to implant the Radiesse. Topical and/or local anesthetic is used for pain control during injections. Injections in and around the lip are particularly painful.
Complications include bruising, nodule formation (particularly in the lips) and infection.
Radiesse® injections have been shown to last for several years. However, individual results may be affected by age, skin type, lifestyle, and muscle activity. Some patients may achieve an optimal correction on their first injection. For other patients, variability in the rate of tissue in-growth following reabsorption of the gel carrier may require additional injections to achieve an optimal correction.
