Facial Vein Removal
Women and Men of any age with vascular lesions on their face. These vascular lesions include spider veins, hemangiomas, vascular birthmarks (not Port Wine stain birthmarks), and malformations. The pulsed dye laser or 532nm laser (both available are at Laser & Cosmetic Dermatology ) is also useful in treating patients who may desire more skin correction after the FotoFacial™ program.

Expected Results
75% of patients experience clearing of spider veins after one treatment of pulsed dye lasers or the 532nm laser, especially those with focal lesions or fine caliber veins. Pulsed light systems fade blood vessel lesions slowly with no bruising.
95% of patients experience clearing after I - 3 treatments.
Larger veins, birthmarks, malformations, and extensive involvement can require 2 - 3 treatments to obtain satisfactory clearing and skin tones.

Description of Procedure
The yellow light emitted by the Pulsed Dye laser, 532nm laser or Intense Pulsed light obliterates surface vessels. The heat absorbed by the vessel will cause inflammation and damage of the vessel, leading to its closure.

YOU CAN NOT BE TANNED AT THE TIME OF TREATMENT.

Healing & Downtime
With the Pulsed Dye laser, a bruise may develop immediately after treatment. Over the next several days a blister may form and a crust or scab may follow. This fades gradually and skin returns to normal over the next 7 - 14 days. You can camouflage with make-up as soon as the crusting is gone. Intense Pulsed light treatment leaves no bruise, but fades vessel lesions more slowly. The most important aspect of recovery is avoidance of the sun, extreme temperatures and alcohol. A sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher should be used for at least 2 months after treatment.

Final results are evident in 3 - 4 weeks. Re-treatment, if necessary, can occur every 6 weeks with Pulse Dye and 3 weeks with Intense Pulsed light.
