With our IPL or Photofacial laser. We recommend 5 sessions 1 month apart, we advise the patient to use sunblock after this and longer term maintenance of treatments every 4 to 6 months.
After the procedure, freckles may become darker, then gently disintegrate a few days after the procedure. The intense pulsed light causes microdamage to the affected area, the body then absorbs the damaged cells slowly. This will reveal the layer of skin underneath that appears fresher, younger and less discolored.
Depending on the darkness or pigment of your skin, you may see results in as little as one session or it may take up to 3-4 sessions to see a noticable difference. there is very little down time, most persons return to work or their normal activities the same day.

Several of my patients comment on how they have had fillers injected (such as Radiesse, Juvederm or Restylane) at other businesses and that the injections left a good amount of bruising. Some are afraid to try them again due to this. There are ways to minimize, and in some cases, eliminate bruising while injecting fillers. Here at the Laser & Cosmetic Dermatology center we have gone through specialized training on using techniques to minimize or prevent bruising.
Bruising can occur due to your genetic background, not using Lidocaine or cold to constrict the blood vessels in the treated area, the size of the needle and the sharpness of the needle. These are just some of these factors that can create bruising from injections.
Although we cannot guarantee there will be no bruising when having injectable fillers performed, we have had many of our patients tell us how dramatically improved the difference in bruising was when having the procedure performed at our office.
