How can I prevent or minimize bruising with fillers?

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Several of my patients comment on how they have had fillers injected (such as Radiesse, Juvederm or Restylane) at other businesses and that the injections left a good amount of bruising. Some are afraid to try them again due to this. There are ways to minimize, and in some cases, eliminate bruising while injecting fillers. Here at the Laser & Cosmetic Dermatology center we have gone through specialized training on using techniques to minimize or prevent bruising.

Bruising can occur due to your genetic background, not using Lidocaine or cold to constrict the blood vessels in the treated area, the size of the needle and the sharpness of the needle. These are just some of these factors that can create bruising from injections.

Although we cannot guarantee there will be no bruising when having injectable fillers performed, we have had many of our patients tell us how dramatically improved the difference in bruising was when having the procedure performed at our office.

How many treatments for laser hair does it take

This depends on the area of the body you are having the procedure performed. For example, the face needs 6-12 sessions 6 to 8 weeks apart, the back needs 5 to 10 sessions every 2 to 3 months, legs need 5 to 10 sessions every 2-3 months, the under arm area needs 4 to 8 sessions every 3 months.

We use different technologies such as IPL and a diode laser to perform laser hair removal. Regardless of the manufacturer of all laser hair removal machines, they all use the same technologies. Syneron uses a double technology laser plus radio frequency to enhance your results.

One note – we are a physician’s office, and all treatments are performed by a physician or under the direct supervision of a doctor. Many “spas” that offer laser hair removal are not performed by person’s with these qualifications. This is an important consideration to reduce any side effects.
