Best Way to Treat Persistent Adult Acne

I recently received an email asking about how to treat acne in an adult female where it is has been persistent and appears to be hormone driven. In this specific situation, the birth-control pill is not an option.

Acne treatments are very complicated and long term treatments. There is no single medication that will eliminate this chronic disease. We try to use all types of treatment to control it. Our first line of defense is medication: topical and oral. Microdermabrasion, acne surgery, and steroid injection also may be options. If the acne still persists, we add blue or red light. As far as complications of acne, like discoloration, and scar, photo facial, and fractional lasers are the best modality of treatment.

As far as pricing, it depends on the treatment plan. The medical treatment usually is covered by health insurance. Photo facial and fractional laser packages cost about 5K. The pricing could vary in anywhere in this price until we see you for a free consultation.

For better management of this problem, we suggest individuals make an appointment for their free consultation so we can give specific details on a treatment plan and the costs associated with it. We are one of the few Acne Centers in the Chicago area who offer free consultations for an acne treatment plan.

All the best to your health & beauty,

Dr. Abboud
